Arbor Crest Wine Cellars is a family owned winery established by the Mielke family in 1982. Winemaker Kristina Mielke-van Loben Sels is the second generation of the Mielke family to oversee Arbor Crest along with her husband Jim van Loben Sels, a viticulturist and the general manager. Using the best Washington state grapes from small vineyards, Arbor Crest produces award-winning, handcrafted wines in the Bordeaux style. It is one of the largest family-owned wineries is Washington.

The winery is housed in the Arbor Crest Cliff House, a fanciful, historic estate scenically perched 450 feet above the Spokane River just east of town. After sampling the wines, nibbling on cheese and enjoying the gift selections, the grounds themselves invite you for a stroll or a leisurely picnic. Wander through the rock gardens and pools, peer over the basalt cliffs, admire the champagne vineyard and entertain yourself with the gigantic checkerboard. (No-one under 21, please, due to dangerous terrain.)

If there isn’t time to tour this delightful spot you can still savor the taste of Arbor Crest wines at their downtown tasting room in River Park Square shopping mall, second floor.
